COVID-19 Precautions

We are committed to exceeding all public health guidelines provided by the Dept. of Health and CDC to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are staying up to date with changes that are made and will update our procedures accordingly with any new information that arises.

In accordance with NYC mandate, Cocoon requires proof of vaccination for all persons 12+ entering our space (staff, members, caregivers and guests). All adults are required to wear their Cocoon Member ID Lanyards. Cocoon staff checks for proof of vaccination at the front desk and will place a sticker on member ID's once vaccination has been verified. Lanyards are required at all times in Cocoon. Masks are required for all individuals 3yrs and up in our indoor space.

We take guidance from the most current CDC and NYS DOH guidelines.

We will continue to take guidance from the CDC guidelines, including any updates that may result from the new variant.

Our entire facility is a shoeless space and socks are required. Shoe storage is provided in our foyer area. Socks are available for purchase at our front desk.

Children, adults and Cocoon employees team are to adhere to the most current social distancing guidelines put forth by the CDC (6 feet apart).

Everyone, including members, guests and the team, who enters Cocoon are to declare that they and anyone else in their company, are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, have come in contact with someone who is experiencing symptoms nor have had close contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

Members's health declarations are outlined in our member agreement.

Non-members and guests are required to fill out an online vistor health declaration.

All members and guests are asked to practice hand hygiene and wear a mask upon entering. Individuals with any of the below listed symptoms or have had close contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days will not be permitted entry into our facility.

  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Loss of Sense of Taste or Smell
  • Dry Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Sore Throat
  • Fatigue

We ask that any children, adults, or team member who are feeling ill stay home. The team and member families should adhere to CDC regulations regarding quarantine and isolation after travel or exposure. Anyone who is feeling ill in our space will be escorted outside our facility. We will immediately notify individuals in our community who have had close contact with a reported COVID-19 positive case in our space.

If a parent/guardian/caregiver/child of the same household must be isolated because they have tested positive for or exhibited symptoms of COVID-19, the parent/guardian/caregiver/child must not return to our facility until after quarantine is complete according to the CDC quarantine guidelines.

If a parent/guardian/caregiver/child of the same household is being quarantined as a precautionary measure, without symptoms or a positive test, the parent/guardian/caregiver/child may not return to our facility for the duration of the quarantine.

Travel
If you and your family have traveled during the holidays, we want to remind you of the New York State Travel Advisory Guidelines. Please be sure that your family is following these guidelines for your return to Cocoon.

Quarantine
If you are notified of possible exposure to COVID-19 and are quarantining, please be sure that you are following the guidelines recommended by the CDC and New York State. If you or your child are quarantining for exposure or are sick, please do not come to our facility. We need to protect each other and ask that everyone be honest with their quarantine release dates. If your school class is mandated to quarantine, this also means that you should not bring your child to class, Happenings or Open Play Yard at Cocoon until the quarantine period has been completed.

The health and safety of our members and team are our top priority. We coordinate with state and local health officials to obtain timely and accurate information to inform an appropriate response. Local conditions will also influence the decision on our opening and closing strategies. Cocoon is categorized as retail and is not subject to the Department of Education mandates. While Cocoon can act independently from the Department of Education’s response, Cocoon is subject to any state issued “shelter in place” order. In the event that Cocoon, closes due to COVID-19, a notice to our community would go out and we would freeze all accounts immediately without any charge. Memberships would be extended for the length of time that we are closed.

Our brand new HVAC system is specifically designed for safety in our space. The system continuously circulates and cleans fresh air throughout our two level space. Air is circulated and cleaned from the outside through a HEPA filter fresh air duct and exhaust, and then our 36 HEPA filter ceiling cassette units continuously cleans and circulates this fresh air within the entire space so you can breathe easy.

In addtion to our HVAC system, our classrooms have a portable HEPA filter with UV-C light for optimal clean air quality.

HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters are mechanical air filters that work by forcing air through a fine mesh net to trap airborne particles. HEPA filters are designed to filter 99.97% of all airborne particulates, such as dust, allergens, pet dander, mold, bacteria, and virus particles, down to 0.3 microns.

Hand hygiene touchless stations can be found at our front door and every few feet throughout our facility. Anyone entering our facility will be asked to use hand sanitizer frequently throughout their visit. The hand sanitizer solution kills up to 99.9% of germs and includes 67% ethyl alcohol, above and beyond the CDC’s guidelines of 60%.

Cocoon has full time cleaning staff to ensure our entire facility is rigorously disinfected and deep cleaned throughout the day. Frequently touched surfaces are sanitized at regular intervals. Designated areas, including private nests, are sectioned off during the day to facilitate deep cleaning and sanitizing in between use. Our maintenance team and team members are working diligently to support these rigorous cleaning protocols.

Medical-grade, EPA-registered disinfectants which are designated effective against the COVID-19 virus with a kill time of less than one minute are used for all continuous and deep-cleaning processes.

While our in-house staff and educators are happy to help facilitate safe play and programmed events and classes, all children are the sole responsibility of their caregiver and must be accompanied by their caregiver at all times.

We are a nut-aware space and we ask our members to be mindful to help keep all areas of our space safe.

Yes, Cocoon would be happy to host birthday parties, baby showers, private celebrations and events for members and non-members. Members receive $200 birthday party credit every year. All strollers and scooters must be parked in our secure outdoor stroller parking area or in designated indoor areas.

Programs

Cocoon’s Before Baby (BB) and After Baby (AB) programs are our uniquely created curriculum in partnership with Birdsong Brooklyn, led by doulas and professional experts providing education and overall support for families from the early stages of family planning to perinatal health, including gestational pregnancy, post birth and beyond. Both courses are included in a Cocoon membership. We strive to bring this crucial support to all families and thus are open to non-members at a pay what you can for our courses. Our signature program guides families through these fragile thresholds and transitions of early family care with gentility, expert education, compassion and empowerment. All participants are invited to join and participate in all of Cocoon’s community groups and general workshops for the duration of their registered program(s).

Our BB program is a three (3) week course, meeting once a week in our Nursery or virtually. Our AB program is an eight (8) week course, meeting once a week in our Nursery or virtually. Learn more about our Before Baby and After Baby programs.

Our Before and After Baby classes are included in a Cocoon membership. In an effort to make pregnancy and parenting easier for all, we offer a pay what you can pricing for non-members. We have created a step by step guide to break down where your household falls in our pricing.

Before Baby Pricing:
Tier 1: $360 ($40/hour) In Person & Virtual

Cocoon strives to curate classes with a family centric focus, serving all ages of our members. We respect all families are unique and have different needs. We offer our Cocoon branded classes led by our in-house educators, complemented by thoughtfully curated classes provided by our partner educators. All Cocoon educators, in-house and partners, are subjected to strict background checks to ensure and uphold Cocoon safety protocols and guidelines. Browse our courses.

Members have access to all classes as part of their membership. Non-members have access some, but not all, of our courses. All class participants must be accompanied by a parent or a caregiver unless otherwise noted. Browse our courses.

Course Credits refers to the amount of benefit that you receive every 3 months and will be provided to you in the form of a Coupon Code when Course registration opens.

How do I use Course Credits?
Your Coupon Code will be emailed to you at the start of the Course registration date. After adding courses to your cart, you can apply the Coupon Code to see the benefit reflected in your cart. The Coupon Code can only be used in a single transaction. Any unused portion of the $900 Course Credit will not rollover to a separate reservation order. Please be sure to add all desired courses to your cart prior to checking out.

Do Course Credits apply to certain Courses only?
Yes, Course Credits can only apply to certain Courses, that are described as “Course Credit Eligible” in the Course description.

Do Course Credits apply to anything else that can be purchased on the website?
No. Course Credits can only apply to certain Courses. The credits cannot be applied towards any Happenings or Reservations on our website.

Can I book the same class type more than once per week?
Yes, as long as there are spots available, you can now book the same class type as many times as the class is offered.

When will I receive my Course Credit?
You will be emailed a Coupon Code at the start of the Course registration period. If you have not received your Coupon Code or cannot find it, please email us at hi@joincocoon.com.

Do Course Credits expire?
Yes, your quarterly Course Credit will specify an expiration date, which will be 7 days before the course season starts. After the expiration date, any unused Course Credit will not roll over to a future period. The Coupon Code can only be used in a single transaction. Please be sure to add all desired courses to your cart prior to checking out.

Does this impact my Birthday Credits?
No, Course Credit is separate from Birthday Credits. Your family is still eligible for one $200 Birthday Credit.

Yes, you are welcomed to register for any available class on our website. Browse our courses.

We host daily happenings throughout the week which includes a range of family workshops, social events, private playtime rentals, birthday parties and more! Our programming and events are thoughtfully curated by local staff and handpicked partners. All general workshop events are included with membership and only on rare occasions, a special workshop would be offered at a cost. A small number of happenings are offered at a cost. You may cancel happening reservations up until 24 hours before the scheduled reservation.

For classes, you may cancel up until 24 hours before the scheduled first class begins. We do not offer refunds for cancellation of paid classes after a course has started. Please email us at hi@joincocoon.com if you need to cancel a class.

For missed classes, makeups are not guaranteed and subject to availability.

We understand that things come up and sometimes you may need to miss a class. We offer 1 makeup per child per season when available. If you wish to makeup more than 1 class per child per season, we can accommodate this when available for a $15 convenience fee. Please email hi@joincocoon.com to inquire about class makeups. Makeup requests must be submitted via email.

For any class switches we ask that you limit this request to 1 switch per family per season. We will accommodate an additional switch when available for a $40 convenience fee as changes in attendance impact the overall experience for the group and the educator. Please email hi@joincocoon.com to inquire about class switches. Class switch requests must be submitted via email.

Memberships

Our butterfly membership costs $600 per month when billed biannually or $650 per month when billed monthly. Any registration for membership will be subject to a $200 initiation fee, that will be charged after membership registration is completed. All memberships are an annual commitment, while providing a flexible freeze and cancellation policy. Your membership includes access for a single household family. This includes 1 primary account holder, unlimited children in your immediate family, and up to 5 additional household caregivers (i.e. spouse/partner, nanny, babysitter, extended family members). We do not allow sharing of the membership with different households. For more information on membership benefits and amenities, please visit our Membership page.

Simply visit our membership page or sign up with one of our community team members at our front desk. Based on membership availability, we will send you an email to confirm your membership or place you on our waitlist.

Our community team would be happy to give you and your family a full tour of our space. Please schedule a tour on our website by clicking here. We don’t currently offer trial memberships. However, you may cancel your membership or further obligation within three (3) days from the membership application date if you find that Cocoon is not a good fit for your family.

The freeze policy allows you to temporarily suspend your membership in accordance with the following terms:

If you need to take a temporary break from your membership for any reason you can freeze after completing your initial 12 months term of your membership. After your 12th month, you may freeze your membership once per contractual 12 month term on your billing date for a minimum of one (1) month and a maximum of two (2) consecutive months in one-month increments. A $30 per month freeze charge applies to all non-medical freezes. Fees for the period of the freeze you elect are non-refundable, even if you later reduce the number of months of suspension of your membership.

If you freeze your membership, these ‘frozen months’ do not count towards your contractual 12 month term.

Congratulations! If your doctor decides you are medically unable to use our space during your pregnancy, you can request a medical freeze for up to nine (9) months. You must provide a doctor’s letter at the time of requesting a pregnancy freeze. Cocoon will waive the freeze fee for medical freezes.

Please fill out this request form to freeze your membership.

You may cancel your membership or further obligation within three (3) days from the membership application date. Notice of cancellation shall be emailed to hi@joincocoon.com. All monies paid pursuant to the Membership Agreement shall be refunded within fifteen business days of receipt of the notice of cancellation, less a $125 cancellation fee. Thereafter, you understand this Membership Agreement cannot be cancelled for a minimum period of 12 months, except as specifically provided for in this Membership Agreement. After your first 12 months, you understand this Membership Agreement becomes an annual contract, cancelable upon written and signed request 30 days prior to the 12th month billing date of your contract term. Verbal or telephone cancellations are not valid. All cancellations should be emailed to hi@joincocoon.com. In no case shall monthly or biannual payments be retroactively refunded.

You may cancel with 30 days written notice by certified or registered mail or by emailing hi@joincocoon.com for any of the following reasons: relocation or medical. All cancellations are subject to a $125.00 cancellation fee. Any request to cancel your membership on membership renewal date requires 45 days notice, but will be exempt from the $125 cancellation fee.

RELOCATION: If you or your child relocate more than 5 miles away from any Cocoon location, you may cancel your membership with proof of relocation, such as a utility bill, lease or deed to a house, or a letter from your human resources department stating you have been relocated to another region.

MEDICAL: If your doctor finds you or your child medically unable to visit Cocoon for more than three months, we will just need a letter from your physician. They do not need to give us specifics, just their medical opinion that you are unable to visit Cocoon for at least three months. You may deliver this note in person to Cocoon’s General Manager and fill out a cancellation form, or you may email us the doctor’s note with your request that your membership be cancelled.

No. All cancellations must be done at Cocoon with a manager, or email us.

A freeze is appropriate when you know approximately how long you will be gone. For example, if you will be away on business for two months, or your doctor feels you or your child should not attend Cocoon for less than two months, a freeze is the option you should choose. It is a defined amount of time without billing, or space usage, and your billing will automatically restart at the end of the freeze. Remember, if you are requesting a medical or pregnancy freeze, we will need medical documentation.

Guests

Members have four (4) monthly guest passes with an allotment of four (4) maximum guests per day. We ask that guest passes not be used for the same guest more than once a month. Pre-crawling babies will not count towards member's guest passes. All guests are to be pre-registered here and follow our house rules, check-in and safety policies. Members are required to remain with their guests at all times and their guests must depart Cocoon when they do.
